Success for MIU 8 till 8 seven days a week
Success, as Local MP, Luke Hall secures longer opening hours for the Minor Injuries Unit in Yate. The news comes after Luke Hall MP campaigned tirelessly to secure the improvements our local community deserves.
The improvements come following the launch of the campaign in 2018 which was later followed by a survey during the summer of 2018.
This survey asked for what improvements you wanted to see, and due to the high numbers of returns, enabled Luke Hall MP to take the case to the South Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group.
Luke Hall took the fight to Matt Hancock, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care where Luke continued to press the Minister to consider the MIU for urgent upgrades. Luke ensured that the Minister met with Council leader Toby Savage so that the proposals could be outlined in detail, along with top health chiefs to discuss the future of local health in South Gloucestershire.
The new improvements will see the opening hours for Yate’s Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) extended from 8am to 8pm, seven days a week from April 2019, as part of a range of measures to develop and enhance local urgent care services.
The changes will mean the unit can see more people during both weekdays and weekends and will also bring its opening hours into line with those of the South Bristol Urgent Care Centre and North Somerset MIU.
